GEL BASE SIL
Gel Base SIL is a crosslinked silicone system comprised of a very high molecular weight dimethylpolysiloxane and cyclomethicone (cyclopentasiloxane). Gel Base SIL contains approximately 10% dimethylpolysiloxane polymer which helps form clear elastic films with minimal tackiness. These silicone-based polymers have a long history of safe use in personal care products.
Gel Base SIL is suggested for skin care applications, as it forms a film with an outstanding silky feel, which is not totally occlusive. The silicone film provides a moisture barrier, while providing a feel that is nontacky and with none of the tightening effects often associated with high molecular weight polymeric film formers.
In addition, Gel Base SIL leaves the skin with a super soft feel. A smooth silky feel is apparent quite some time after application. It can be used to add a consumer perceptible luxurious feel to skin care products.
In color care cosmetics, Gel Base SIL will not only improve the feel on the skin, but it will also improve the wear characteristic of the formulation as a result of the continuous polymeric film formed on the skin.
